Coir geotextile machine – Coconut geotextile has a higher tensile strength with the machine than in conventional manufacture. Their tensile strength is affected by a series of threads. The tensile strength of non-woven coconut geotextiles is greater than woven coconut geotextiles.

The compressibility of nonwoven geotextiles is significantly higher than that of woven geotextiles. Changes in strain rate from 10 to 300 mm/min, no change in strength, for natural geotextiles, except for nonwovens. For all practical purposes, the tensile strength of natural geotextile may be taken as that corresponding to a sample of width 200 mm × 100 mm in length at a strain rate of 10 mm / min.

Erosion control is a woven coconut coir geotextile, which is often a more suitable alternative to erosion control blankets, especially for construction projects in exposed areas at risk of erosion, as well as on the shores of calm waters and streams. A great advantage is the long shelf life of three to five years due to the high content of lignin in coconut fiber. Additionally, it is used if more than one growing season is needed to establish the desired vegetation. Individual woven fibers slow down the speed of water from rain or streams and thus protect the soil surface and young plants. The denser the net, and thus the woven coconut used on the soil surface, the greater the protective effect. We recommend wooden pins or U-shaped fastening pins.

Woven coconut is used as protection against surface erosion to strengthen slopes and embankments on exposed terrain, water engineering, and shore stabilization. The choice depends on the slope of the area and the duration of the necessary protection.

Coconut geotextile is applied to the prepared soil surface. Geotextile woven from coconut should lie completely on the ground without gaps. The individual strips should be placed perpendicular to the slope of the embankment, side by side over the entire surface. The overlap on the vertical longitudinal joints should be approx. 10 cm and at transverse joints approx. 10-20 cm. The open edge of the overlap should be away from the prevailing wind direction. Cross joints should essentially overlap from top to bottom. The upper and lower ends of the anti-erosion mat should be buried in the upper and lower part of the slope for approx. 10–20 cm deep and fastened.
